UVC LED stands for Ultraviolet C Light-Emitting Diode – i.e. an LED that emits ultraviolet light within the UVC spectrum. UVC light is known for its ability to inactivate microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, rendering them harmless. UVC LEDs are ideal for use in water disinfection units, where they can effectively disinfect water.

In contrast to conventional UVC lamps, UVC LEDs contain no mercury, which makes them more eco-friendly and easier to handle. In addition, UVC LEDs have a longer service life and are more energy-efficient. They are also more compact and therefore easier to integrate. Another advantage is that there is no warm-up time – UVC LEDs start working immediately.
